Don't Ask Why...

We love us some Hallmark cards! Always have. Always will. We wish we could go sit, for a week or two, with the cRaZy/FUN peeps who cleverly design them. Especially the Shoebox and Fresh Ink creators/writers. Over the years, we’ve even been unable to part with a few cards we’ve purchased—because they touched our hearts or tickled our funny bones. Yes. Yes, we know that sounds ridiculous.

Here’s a silly from a Fresh Ink card many, many moons ago (and ELC did make a sacrifice by sending it off to a deserving/understanding/college friend):

This guy in college
      used to say,
“Maybe ‘Why’ isn’t the
     question.
Maybe ‘Why’ is the
       Answer.”
Looking at it now,
I realize he was probably drunk.

Have a HAPPY FRIDAY.
      And please don’t ask why.

It was a birthday card. So it actually said: “Have a Happy Birthday…” We took our poetic license and made it applicable to our post today. However, if this is not only Friday in your Little Corner of the World, but also YOUR birthday, then PLEASE make it applicable to YOU, okay?

People Who Need People

GOD doesn’t give you
the people you want.
He gives you the
people you need…
To help you, to hurt you,
to leave you, to love you,
and to make you
the person
you were meant to be.

I think I rather like those who help me and love me the most! Don't you? Sigh. I do believe every person comes into your life for a reason. Sometimes it’s just downright hard to figure out what that reason is/was.

It’s heavenly right now in North Central Texas. Not too much wind for a nice change! We must remember these incredibly beautiful days as Tornado Season approaches…and it is fast approaching...

Try...

Here is our second March Inspirationess (You know…like March Madness? Only Inspirationess? Ha? No? Never mind.) quote:

No matter how many
mistakes you make
or how slow
your progress,
you’re still way ahead
of everyone
who isn’t trying.
--unknown

I’ve been a counselor/therapist for over twelve years. Started on my Masters’ degree when TLC was in the 7th grade and finished it at the end of her 10th grade year. I went back to school after battling breast cancer and being determined she would learn that you don’t give up. Ever. I wanted her to believe you should never be afraid to start something challenging just because you’ve had some setbacks. Some discouragements.

I’m mostly retired (having started kind of late…at that particular job/career choice) but still work with some adolescents a few hours each week. We work on building self-esteem and choosing healthier ways to handle anger. We discuss bad choices made and how to make better ones today. And tomorrow. I always admit to them what my shortcomings have been/are. If I don’t, how can I expect them to be completely honest with me—and themselves? I tell them I don’t remember a time in my life when I believed I was perfect. Better or smarter than anyone else. In fact, I work on building my own self-esteem. Even now. At 59. I tell them I fail. Every day. At something. Sometimes many things. That I try to forgive myself and get up the next day ready to start over. Hopeful to do better.

That’s why I love this quote. (Wish I knew the author. I’ll bet she or he has lots of other profound wisdom to share.)

Here’s to Friday! To Gratitude! To Determination and Perseverance!

Hope y’all have a Wonderful Weekend…wherever in the World you are…

Inspiration and Laughter

TLC and I often need a lot of both. Mostly laughter, I think. We’ve decided it could be fun to devote the month of March to quotes that inspire us. Or make us laugh. Or both! Perhaps you'll have seen a few of these on Facebook. We’re not going to lie: We think some of the posts our friends find and share are priceless. One of the best things about Facebook. (My past year of experience with Facebook has been sketchy—at best. TLC has to put my pictures of Little Leighton on my page. I rarely ever post anything. And something has to touch my heart and/or soul and/or funnybone for me to “Share” it. Oh, well.)

One of my sweet friends posted this quote the other day and it made me giggle. I can’t think of a better way to describe this kind of frustration:

Trying to understand
the behaviour of some people
is like trying to smell the
color 9.

Yes. Yes, it is.

lolLOLlolLOLlolLOLlolLOLlolLOL

I have no clue who the clever person was that penned this. It wasn’t listed on the post. I do so adore how they spelled “behaviour,” though. You know this about me and TLC, right? We love our extra “u”s.

Hope y’all have had a simply spectacular and lovely weekend—and that your upcoming week is full of razzle and dazzle!!!
